Improving Management of COPD

COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) affects one in seven Australians aged 40 years or over. Common symptoms like breathlessness, cough, sputum production, wheeze and chest tightness have a big impact on people living with the disease.
COPD makes it hard for people to perform activities of daily living. COPD can increase anxiety and depression and has a significant impact on quality of life and health. COPD exacerbations are the second highest cause of potentially avoidable hospital admissions in Victoria.
We will identify and increase access to models of care that can help prevent exacerbations and reduce hospital admissions. We will work with people with lived experience of COPD, and hospital and community providers.
