Best Care for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding

About this project
Effective, evidence-based alternatives to hysterectomies are not provided consistently in Victoria, and women are not always given opportunities to participate in decisions made about their care.
This project aims to develop a shared understanding of the factors that contribute to the variation. We'll also explore ways the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care Heavy Menstrual Bleeding Clinical Care Standard could help reduce variation across Victoria.
What you need to apply
We are looking for a Consumer Lead and Clinical Lead to join our initiative to help us to reduce the number of hysterectomies for the management of heavy menstrual bleeding in Victoria.
There is an opportunity within the Victorian health system to deliver more equitable, evidence-based and efficient care for heavy menstrual bleeding. This will improve women's healthcare outcomes and use of health system resources.
These leading roles are critical for ensuring strong consumer partnership, context and clinical expertise, leadership, and strategic advice at each stage of this work.
Are you:
- Passionate about improving consumer engagement and participation in health care?
- A systems thinker?
- An effective communicator with strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills?
- Able to work with the project team one day per week until November 2023 (including in virtual or face to face meetings and online)?
Who should apply
We are inviting expressions of interest from:
- Consumers with lived experience of receiving care for menstrual disorders, such as heavy menstrual bleeding in the last five years at a Victorian health service.
- Clinical leaders from medical, nursing, allied health and primary care backgrounds with expertise and experience in the assessment and multidisciplinary management of gynaecological conditions with a special interest in menstrual disorders.
Applications close on Wednesday 18 May 2022.
