Description

The Fundamentals of Adverse Patient Safety Event Reviews workshop is designed to build your knowledge and skills in reviewing adverse patient safety events. Fundamentals is a prerequisite to register for Safer Care Victoria's review methodologies workshops - Root Cause Analysis and Action (RCA²) and AcciMap.   

The 8-hour workshop is conducted over two half days: 

  • Day 1 | 9am – 1pm, 4 hours (online) 
  • Day 2 | 9am – 1pm, 4 hours (online) 

*All registered attendees are required to participate in both days of the workshop

What does this workshop cover?

Day 1

  • Introduction to Human factors
  • Introduction to Systems thinking
  • Introduction to Just and safety culture

Day 2

  • Overview of the SCV Sentinel Event Program
  • Working through the 8 elements of the Adverse patient safety event review process

Who should register?

Health service workers and consumer representatives who lead or participate in reviewing a sentinel or serious adverse event in Victoria.

As workshop capacity is limited, Victorian Health Services and consumer representatives' participants are prioritised according to need.

As workshop capacity is limited, Victorian health services and consumer representative participants are prioritised according to need.  You will be notified of the outcome of your EOI via email.

How much does it cost?

There is no charge for attending the above workshops. However, cancellation with less than three working days’ notice or failure to attend on the day will incur a fee of $385 that will be invoiced to your health service.
