Safety for all is a Mental Health Improvement Program initiative, which will respond to the Royal Commission’s key quality improvement priorities.
Safer Care Victoria wants to partner with Victorian mental health and wellbeing services to ensure Safety for all in mental health inpatient units. Expressions of interest are now open to join the planning phase of this initiative. Improvement activities in chosen mental health inpatient units will commence from March 2022.
Who should consider applying?
All Victorian public mental health and wellbeing services who:
- provide care to people with lived-experience and their families/carers and supporters in mental health inpatient unit settings (across the care continuum), and
- are interested in working collaboratively with other services towards a shared vision of Safety for all are encouraged to apply.
What's involved?
Interested mental health and wellbeing services are asked to nominate a minimum of two staff members with expertise and current (or very recent) experience providing mental healthcare in mental health inpatient unit settings. Services are encouraged to consider people in lived-experience and clinical workforce roles.
Nominated staff members will be asked to join an expert working group with staff members from participating services. The group will include people with lived-experience (consumer and family/carer perspectives). The group will meet between November 2021 and March 2022 to define the aim(s) of the initiative, measures, and design a theory of change. The dates, times, and format for the expert working group meetings will be tailored to the capacity and availability of the participating members.
Participating services will commence improvement activities from March 2022 in their respective units and learn what changes result in improvement, in collaboration with other participating services.
How to apply
Applications close 5 pm Wednesday 17 November 2021 and require executive sponsorship from your organisation’s:
