Difficult airway alert

The Victorian Perioperative Consultative Council (VPCC) has adapted Queensland Health's Statewide Anaesthesia and Perioperative Care Clinical Network (SWAPNet) Difficult Airway Alert for distribution in Victoria.

The alert provides clear and effective communication about a difficult airway event with the aim of reducing future harm due to airway management problems while undergoing anaesthesia. 

Difficult airway management remains a significant cause of perioperative mortality and morbidity. 

The VPCC recommends the distribution and use of the alert in Victorian healthcare services to reduce future harm due to airway management problems.
