On June 4, the Safer Care Victoria Adult Sepsis Collaborative brought together 145 passionate healthcare professionals from 33 health services and Ambulance Victoria for its first in-person collaboration day.
From rural urgent care centres to major metro hospitals, teams gathered with one mission: to reduce patient harm and length of stay through the reliable recognition and management of sepsis for every patient, every time.

The day started with a powerful consumer story that highlighted the real-world impact of sepsis and the critical need for clear communication – especially in rural settings.
The event featured expert presentations, an engaging panel discussion, and interactive breakout sessions – all underpinned by the collaborative’s ‘all teach, all learn’ philosophy. This sparked new connections, bold ideas, and practical strategies that teams are now taking into the first Action Period, where they will begin testing improvements.
The project will run for 12 months to July 2026.
