On June 18, our Improving Care for Older People at Risk of Delirium project brought together 130 passionate healthcare professionals from 36 health services, including metropolitan, regional and rural health services, and Public Sector Residential Aged Care Services, for its first in-person learning session at Melbourne Zoo.
The day kicked off with a powerful consumer video that highlighted the real-world impact of delirium and the critical need for clear communication and family involvement to recognise changes in a person’s mental state.
The event facilitated shared learnings from across the sector and interactive workshop sessions aligned with the 'all teach, all learn' philosophy. This helped prepare health services for their first action period of the collaborative.
The event sparked new connections, fostered teamwork and provided practical strategies that teams are now taking into the first Action Period, where they will begin testing improvements.
