The Lancet Obstetrics, Gynaecology & Women’s Health has published results from the National Preterm Birth Prevention Program. This study shows that the initiative has led to a significant decrease in early birth and improved pregnancy outcomes for women across Australia.
We are a proud partner in this world-first initiative, improving outcomes for mothers and babies across Victoria through the National Preterm Birth Prevention Collaborative.
In Round 1 of this collaborative, we led the Victorian initiative with 16 maternity services, contributing to a 10% reduction in early term births (37-39 weeks) across Victoria. These services represent 72% of all Victorian births and account for more than 55,000 births each year.
