Delivering timely stroke care can mean the difference between lifelong disability and a full recovery.
As part of the Safer Together Program, we are highlighting the transformative impact of our Enhancing Stroke Care Collaborative – a statewide initiative involving 17 health services and Ambulance Victoria.
The program is designed to reduce variation in stroke treatment across Victorian hospitals and improve access to life-saving interventions. By streamlining coordination and strengthening clinical capabilities, the initiative is already delivering measurable results:
- clot-busting treatments are now administered 7 minutes faster
- clot removal procedures are 11 minutes quicker on average than in 2024.
These improvements have saved the community an estimated 1,286 days of disability.
