Safer Care Victoria’s 100,000 Lives program is a five-year statewide initiative to improve the safety and quality of healthcare for Victorians. Through strong partnerships with consumers, clinicians, health services, system leaders and researchers, the program is helping to build a safer, more connected and sustainable health system.

What’s inside the report

This year, the 100,000 Lives program reached a special milestone, with 107,603 Victorians receiving better health care and outcomes through 19 improvement projects.

In 2024–25 alone, the program improved 31,698 lives, demonstrating the ongoing impact of safer, more effective care across Victoria.

This year the program saw:

  • 13 improvement projects across 50+ participating health services
  • support from 8 clinical leads, 18 consumer advocates, and 8 sector partners
  • 70+ events and activities, 50+ coaching calls and 40+ site visits
  • 1,400 healthcare workers taught innovation skills and 66 quality improvement advisors trained, building capability.
