Safer Baby Collaborative

Our goal
To reduce stillbirth rates in Victoria during the third trimester
The Safer Baby Collaborative enabled us to increase awareness of risk factors for third trimester stillbirth and how we can work together to reduce these risks.
We worked with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), Stillbirth Centre for Research Excellence, consumers and healthcare workers and leaders to reduce stillbirth rates during the third trimester and improve outcomes for mothers and their babies.
This project focused on:
- improving rates of smoking cessation during pregnancy
- diagnosing and managing factors that restrict fetal growth
- increasing public awareness of the importance of fetal movements
- raising awareness of safe sleep positions during pregnancy
- promoting shared decision-making with women around timing of birth.
