Safer Care Victoria
Safer Care Victoria and the Safer Care for Kids: ViCTOR project team warmly invite you to register for the following clinical conversation with:
- Clinical Leads A/Prof Daryl Cheng, Paediatrician
- Dr Erin Mills, Paediatric Emergency Medicine Physician.
Victorian Children’s Tool for Observation and Response (ViCTOR) charts have been in use across Victoria since 2014, providing a “track and trigger” tool to assist hospitals and health facilities to identify trends and paediatric patient deterioration earlier.
This session discusses pilot project findings from 8 sites across Victoria using refined ViCTOR charts – with an additional vital sign added to improve recognition of patient deterioration, in the form of a question, “Are you worried your child is getting worse?”
Data has shown that a parent or caregiver articulating “I am worried my child is getting worse” is more strongly associated with a child’s deterioration and subsequent ICU admission than any abnormal vital sign.
Find out more about how this improvement ensures every child and their family has a clear, consistent way to raise concerns if they feel the child is getting worse—no matter where they receive care.
The session will be recorded for those who are not able to attend.
