Join us online to hear practical, locally led approaches that can be adapted across Victoria

Hosted by Gippsland Local Health Service Network, this Clinical Conversation brings together three health services to share practical initiatives improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and people living in rural and remote settings.

Presenters from Bairnsdale Regional Health Service, Orbost Regional Hospital and Latrobe Regional Hospital will showcase locally led, evidence‑based approaches that respond to the values, priorities and lived experiences of their communities. The session explores a range of approaches, including community‑led health education, outreach and specialist care in rural and remote settings, and trauma‑aware, healing‑informed models of perinatal care.

The session highlights how culturally safe models of care, outreach nursing, and trauma‑aware, healing‑informed approaches can strengthen patient safety, improve health literacy, and support better outcomes across the life course. Through these presentations, participants will hear how Aboriginal leadership and partnerships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations enhance the effectiveness of health messaging; how outreach and specialist services support isolated communities; and how trauma‑aware perinatal care can help break cycles of harm and improve outcomes for families and babies.

This webinar is part of the Safer Together Clinical Conversations series, where Safer Care Victoria partners with Local Health Service Networks to showcase local improvement work and share practical learnings that others can adapt in their own settings. Together, these conversations help connect health services across Victoria through a continuously improving learning health system.
