We are progressing the development of the My maternity journey resource, one of the recommendations of the Victorian Maternity Taskforce

My maternity journey is a consumer‑facing website that is being co‑designed with consumers, clinicians and sector partners to support women and families throughout pregnancy, pre-conception and early parenthood.

The first in‑person expert working group was held in January, bringing together more than 50 participants: including consumers, clinicians, Department of Health and Safer Care Victoria staff. The session focused on co‑designing content for the first trimester of pregnancy, with participants sharing lived experience, clinical expertise and practical insights to shape clear, culturally safe and accessible information.

Feedback highlighted the strength of the approach, with one participant noting: “An impressively organised day, real co‑design was embraced, and consumer advisors could participate in meaningful ways.”

Building on this momentum, the second expert working group was held in February, focusing on perinatal mental health. Discussions reinforced the importance of normalising perinatal mental health, embedding support across the entire pregnancy journey, and ensuring content is practical, reassuring and easy to navigate.

My Maternity Journey is on track for completion in 2026 and will provide a trusted, evidence‑based guide to help families understand their care options, know what to expect at each stage of pregnancy, and access the right support at the right time.
