Revising our maternity and neonatal eHandbooks

We are committed to updating our maternity and neonatal eHandbooks as a priority project. Over the next 12 months, we will systematically update over 100 guidance items using the highest level of evidence available or by expert consensus agreement, where evidence is lacking. 

The Neonatal eHandbook is a trusted and indispensable guide for healthcare professionals caring for neonates in Victoria. Our updates will strengthen this resource.

Recommended threshold and treatment target for blood pressure in pregnancy

Recently published evidence has demonstrated that tight blood pressure targets in pregnancy are associated with improved maternal outcomes and are not associated with increased risk for the unborn baby. CCOPMM have observed an increase in maternal and fetal morbidity associated with delayed treatment of elevated blood pressure.

Andy Phillips

Executive Director Safety, Dr Andy Phillips, has worked for the past 37 years as a healthcare leader in 6 countries. Before Safer Care Victoria, Andy was seconded to the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet and Health New Zealand to write the first national health plan for New Zealand and to provide clinical support for the development and implementation of health system values and behaviours.

The Cardiovascular Learning Health Network (CVDLHN) brings cardiac and stroke clinicians, researchers, academics, and consumers together to improve the safety and quality of cardiovascular healthcare delivered in Victoria. 

Clinicians, academics, and those with a lived experience of cardiovascular disease form the Victorian network that collaborates and shares information and experiences with each other to drive system wide improvements in cardiovascular health.
