Improving Childhood Asthma Management
Our goal
To improve childhood asthma management in Melbourne’s north and west
Asthma is one the leading causes of paediatric emergency department presentations. Children in Melbourne’s north and west experience higher rates of asthma-related emergencies compared to children living elsewhere in metropolitan Melbourne.
In the Improving Childhood Asthma Management (ICAM) collaborative, we’re partnering with consumers and healthcare providers to improve care and outcomes for children with asthma in Melbourne’s north and west.
This work builds on the lessons learned from the ICAM pilot (focused on Melbourne’s inner west) by spreading tested improvement ideas to additional acute and community health services across Melbourne’s north and west.
Together, we’re focusing on reducing preventable emergency department presentations, supporting self-management and consumer engagement, implementing evidence-based interventions and improving transitions of care.
