Our Partnering in healthcare framework will help you improve healthcare and outcomes for Victorians by better involving consumers and their families. The framework gives you strategies to respond to the needs and expectations of consumers.

Use the Partnering in Healthcare self-assessment tool

1. Review the domains and suggested priorities for health services outlined in the framework.

2. Use the Partnering in healthcare self-assessment tool to:

  • identify your service’s current strengths and challenges against each domain and identify areas in need of improvement
  • identify at least two domains and the priorities you will choose to focus on in the next 12 months.

3. Submissions are now open for your Partnering in healthcare statement of intent 2023-24. Please submit your statement of intent (endorsed by your board) by 31 October 2023.

Check how your activities align with national standards

Partnering with consumers is a key requirement for health services to achieve national accreditation, under the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards.

To help your service meet this requirement, we have developed handy factsheets (below) that map the five domains of our framework against the eight standards.

Each factsheet includes:

  • Information about the domain and how it aligns to the standards
  • An outline of the eight standards
  • A set of core actions and relevant criteria, with new (second edition) criteria highlighted in bold with an asterisk*
  • Examples of evidence from the accreditation workbooks.

Background

Health services have different levels of success when it comes to partnering with consumers for better care and outcomes. Our framework responds to these challenges.

The framework was co-produced in 2018 with consumers, health professionals and community members.
