New guidance on acute behavioural disturbance in emergency settings

Everyone deserves to feel safe in emergency care settings, but this can be challenging when caring for people who are agitated or aggressive. 

Together with healthcare consumers and staff, and after reviewing 125 pieces of evidence and analysing 73 public consultation submissions, Safer Care Victoria has produced clinical guidance to improve care for people experiencing acute behavioural disturbance.

It’s restart a heart day! Can you help save a life?

Wednesday 16 October is ‘Restart a Heart’ Day, a global campaign to raise awareness on the importance of learning cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and having access to Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in our community. 

Approximately 30,000 Australians suffer a cardiac arrest every year.  Of these only 1 in 10 will survive.

Updated guidance for patients in emergency departments and urgent care centres

When a patient presents to an emergency department or urgent care centre, they should be given the best available and most up-to-date information. Which is why we’ve updated our patient information fact sheets for emergency presentations.

Easy to follow advice for patients

From chest pain to seizures – our updated patient fact sheets cover 47 common emergency presentations. They can be given to patients who present to an emergency department or urgent care centre when they are discharged.
