Our Annual plan 2026–27 details what we will deliver in the next year to achieve our vision of a better, safer healthcare system for all Victorians.

Priorities for 2026-27

Leadership

In the next year we will:

  • strengthen partnering practices and outcomes through the launch of a refreshed Partnering in Healthcare Framework
  • strengthen clinical governance by aligning reforms and embedding the Victorian Clinical Governance Framework.
  • maintain the refreshed Clinicians Health Channel to give clinicians timely, evidence-based information
  • support national research reforms and more consistent clinical research across Australia.

Insights

In the next year we will:

  • share lessons learnt from patient harm through the Sentinel Event Annual report 2025–26 and translate quality and safety insights into system-wide learning
  • strengthen performance monitoring to identify and respond to quality and safety risks
  • use system data to identify differences in gynaecological care and clinical practice
  • align consultative council practices and support legislative reform
  • turn data, research, lived experience and frontline insights into system-wide improvement.

Improvement

In the next year we will:

  • accelerate statewide adoption of evidence-based safety and quality improvements and reform through the Safer Together learning health system
  • advance our Mental Health Improvement Program initiatives to improve safety, quality and experience of care in our mental health services
