Guiding the safe use of bed rails

In partnership with clinicians, we identified variation in the use of of bed rails across Victorian healthcare services and public residential aged care facilities.

In Australia and overseas, inappropriate  use of bed rails has been known to cause injuries and deaths when people have attempted to climb over or through gaps in the bed rails.

Summary

Many of the mental health patients who call Triple Zero (000) for assistance would receive more appropriate care from a specialist mental health clinician than from the paramedics that staff a typical ambulance.

Summary

Delirium is a serious medical condition which can cause disturbed thinking and behaviour, and fluctuating consciousness. Being in hospital can compound the challenges of this condition, as patients can find the environment unfamiliar and socially isolating.
