The long awaited Victorian Cardiovascular Dashboard (VCD) will provide a sector wide view of important safety and quality metrics for cardiac and stroke care provided across Victoria.

Safer Care Victoria is pleased to share a new Victorian guideline to address venous thromboembolism (VTE) in adult patients in hospital settings. VTE encompasses conditions like deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).

The Albury Wodonga region colonoscopy recall is now complete, with our organisation identifying, contacting, reviewing and supporting close to 2,000 patients during the process.

Since the commencement of the Health Legislation Amendment (Quality and Safety) Act 2022, questions have arisen around the potential overlap of the Health Services Act 1988 (Vic)(HS Act) and the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (OHS Act). 

Safety culture is an organisational culture that places a high level of importance on safety beliefs, values, attitudes, and practices. A powerful predictor of patient harm, it plays a pivotal role in shaping the quality of care in healthcare systems.

We are committed to updating our maternity and neonatal eHandbooks as a priority project. Over the next 12 months, we will systematically update over 100 guidance items using the highest level of evidence available or by expert consensus agreement, where evidence is lacking.
